WAREHAM ST MARTIN comprises the residential area of Sandford, along with Holton Heath and its adjacent industrial estate.

Most of the ward contains a large tract of forest and heathland bounded by the edge of Poole Harbour, Wareham town and the A35 Poole – Dorchester road from the Bakers Arms roundabout. The A351 road to Swanage runs through the ward and is frequently congested by traffic, especially during the holiday season.

The ward has a population of 2,733, with 2,157 electors.
